Former City Tree Nursery
1920 34th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95822
**CLOSED-TOE SHOES ARE REQUIRED FOR SITE ENTRY**
In October 2019, the City Council approved the Mangan Park Master Plan – which includes relocating the existing archery range to a safer orientation, expanding the pool area to include a splash pad and additional shade, providing a group picnic area with shade structure, grass volleyball court, walking path with fitness equipment, public art, bike parking, playground shade structure, restroom and additional trees.
These amenities would be in addition to the existing playground, soccer fields, softball field, pool, horseshoe pits, and basketball court, which are to remain.
The former indoor Rifle and Pistol Range building would be converted to a multi-use community center /clubhouse after the lead is removed from the building and funding becomes available for the renovation.
In April of this year, the City of Sacramento has completed an initial cleanup of the interior of the former Mangan Gun Range located at 2140 34th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95822. All the rooms within the interior building of the gun range have been cleaned, sealed with a protective sealant and retested with lead results being within normal levels. We are applying for grants to complete future phases of building improvements.

City Tree Nursery
You may have noticed activity around the City Tree Nursery site!
During the past several years, our office and the City has discussed agricultural site opportunities with Mangan Park residents and the surrounding community. Numerous residents have expressed a desire for involvement, even offering to volunteer for Site activation and maintenance. We are hoping to continue this momentum and identify organizations interested in reuse of the site.
On Wednesday, May 29th the City released a Request for Information (“RFI”) for reuse of the City Tree Nursery site. The suggested tenant mix for the Site would include agricultural uses, agricultural training and/or apprenticeship opportunities, and provide the surrounding community with access to produce and Site activities. However, the City is also willing to consider non-agricultural uses as well. The City encourages responses from parties that would activate the Site with strong community engagement and offer site access or amenities to the Mangan Park neighborhood.
If you are interested in responding to this RFI please register at https://www.planetbids.com/portal/portal.cfm?CompanyID=15300 to obtain more information, submit questions, and receive updates on this request. Answers to all questions and any amendments to the RFI will be posted on the Planet Bids website.
Depending on the responses received, the City may hold a community meeting in early August for neighborhood feedback on proposed concepts. The City intends to meet as we determine next steps for the Site. All responses must be posted to Planet Bids by 4:00 PM PDT on Friday July 12, 2019,
